Introduction to Open

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

New to the field of open and want an opportunity to ask any niggling questions about what it's all about?
Work in a particular open niche and want to explore how others across the space understand the term? Open expert already? Willing to help others who haven't already drunk the coolaid to get to grips with the term?

This session brings together experts from across the open space, including open science, open government, open GLAM (galleries, libraries, archives and museums) open development and open sustainability to jargon bust and navigate the open space.

Aside from helping people to learn about the space, OKFestival believes that beautiful things happen when you mix people from different disciplines and let them learn from each other:  what can the open government community learn about licensing from the cultural sector? Could the publishing industry that the open access movement strives to fundamentally change learn anything from the push to open up data in the aid and development sector?

This session truly embodies the spirit of the festival: open minds to open action. Come, learn and navigate the breadth of the open space.
