Opening Politics: Collecting and Organizing Political Data

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

There are a number of communities that deal with open data in discrete areas of the political process, such as election data, polling results, voting record information, open spending and political finance data. Some efforts have been made to unite disparate data sets, however, more dialogue is needed across the various communities behind the data. This session will identify areas for improving collaboration in collecting open data sets relating to political information and tools for analyzing and visualizing this data.

Session attendees would join a brief, moderated discussion on the challenges across these communities, and then break into smaller groups to identify points of overlap and opportunity with other “open politics” communities. NDI would use this feedback to support coalitions of actors that can help meet the goals of participants identified in the session.
